Recent warm weather has led the UK to be treated to a bounty of rare migratory moths, including the tropical Spoladea recurvalis pictured here - spotted for the first time ever in Ireland, and only the second time in Scotland. Conservationists such as those at Butterfly Conservation are so honoured by their presence that the location of a new colony of the traditionally Mediterranean flame brocade moth (Trigonophora flammea) is being kept a secret to better protect the population.
