After 18 months of preparation, this 155-million-year old fossil discovered in Dorset, UK has finally been unveiled on display in Dorset County Museum. The gigantic 2.4m-long skull belonged to one of the largest creatures yet discovered to have lived in our seas, a pliosaur of 15-18m in total length that held the position of top predator in the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. This is the largest and most complete pliosaur skull to have ever been found, and is potentially a completely new species as yet unidentified.
